We’re piloting an AI-powered app for brain injury survivors

Jul 8, 2025

As part of Action for Brain Injury Week this year, we launched a pilot of an AI-powered app for brain injury survivors, designed to support people living with this acquired injury.

The app has been developed in partnership with Tritone Health. Our General Manager, Jamie Higgins, acted as a consultant throughout. We have also relied on the expertise of our clinical team to ensure it meets the real needs of people recovering from a brain injury.

How the app supports brain injury survivors

The app was designed to help identify patterns in symptoms and track progress. It provides data for health professionals such as the brain injury survivor’s GP or neurologist. Tracking how the user is feeling day-to-day, it also includes information like sleep, mood, pain and food and water intake.

Users can upload medical documents and choose what information they want to share with healthcare professionals or carers. The app also includes a version for carers.

Why we’re running this pilot

We know that many people living with brain injury feel their symptoms are random, like communication difficulties, memory problems or emotional ups and downs. But when the patterns are identified, it becomes easier to take action earlier.

As Jamie explains:

“The app will help to spot those patterns and help clients to spot when they are having a good day. And when they are implementing all the things we are telling them to do, they will be able to see an improvement in their symptoms.”

We’re running this pilot with a group of our clients who already use a smartphone and are likely to benefit from the app. The pilot will last six months, and we’re excited to learn how it can help people feel more in control of their recovery and better equipped to work with healthcare professionals.

We’re proud to be part of this world-first project and grateful to Dr Iqbal and Tritone for working with us to adapt the platform for brain injury survivors.
