Hennerton Golf Club raises funds for Headway Thames Valley

Apr 7, 2022

Despite the challenges that the last two years have posed to life in general, Anne Hooper, Ladies Club Captain at Hennerton Golf Club and fellow club members were determined to do all they could to raise funds for Headway Thames Valley which they had chosen as their charity of the year for 2020. With golf clubs remaining closed during the first lockdown, Anne took to her bike to tee off the fundraising. Her challenge was to cycle the equivalent distance of the National Cycle Route 4 & 47, the London Eye to Fishguard or 500 km on a bike trainer in her shed. This helped to raise over £1,700 in the first year.

With golf clubs able to re-open, Anne and her fellow golfers dusted off their clubs and organised a number of events to raise more funds. An exciting and competitive Charity Day, generously sponsored by BMW Sytner Maidenhead, took place on 28th August 2021. 24 teams, including a team from Headway Thames Valley played in a 4 ball Stableford competition. Of the 96 participants there were several men and women playing off minus handicaps with remaining competitors across all levels of golfing ability.

Hennerton Golf Club is thrilled to have so far raised over £7,550 for Headway Thames Valley from the events and activities that have taken place since April 2020, with fundraising continuing until the end of April this year.
