As more and more of us are starting to emerge from the last few months of lockdown due to the Coronavirus, we wanted to give you an update on what Headway Thames Valley, our clients and their families have been busy doing since the end of March.
Like other charities, businesses, schools and families, we had to stay home and find new ways of doing things and keeping in touch.
So what have we been doing?
We have been busy with Tai Chi sessions, chair exercises, quizzes, football discussions and conversation groups. For those who have not always been able to access technology, we have posted information packs on managing brain injury, art and other activities to boost health and well-being and are contacting them by telephone regularly. We have completed our first ever online Living with Brain Injury Course and we have continued to take on new referrals, providing each of them with advice and support during 1:1 sessions with our OT.
In April, clients, staff and supporters took on the 2.6 Challenge, doing the plank for 2.6 minutes, running a marathon on a running machine or setting themselves challenges in their gardens to raise money. And in May Hats for Headway became Hats at Home for Headway!
The future…
We are now making plans and looking at how we can gradually start getting back to some activities at our Centre or in small groups, doing things outside. We will of course keep you posted over the next few weeks and coming months.
Thank you for continuing to support Headway Thames Valley.
